Octave and Matlab comparison in terms of basic mathematics
Zahradník, Radek ; Grepl, Robert (referee) ; Krejčí, Petr (advisor)
How is mankind grow older, its knowledge about nature, which in it lives, is getting deeper. Unfortunately human brain in itself became short for solving modern problems and we have to help ourselves with computers and modern computerised methods. But computers themselves can not solve the problems. We need to equip them with adequate software. Goal of this work is to compare Octave and Matlab systems in part of compatibility and in the solvings of practical problems.

The study of rehabilitation alternatives selected of sewer network
Novák, Tomáš ; Hluštík, Petr (referee) ; Raclavský, Jaroslav (advisor)
The topic of my bachelor thesis is an evaluation of alternative solutions in terms of a reconstruction of a section of a sewage system using trenchless technology. For this purpose, the work is split into two parts. The main goal of the first, theoretical part is an introduction into trenchless technology and its description. The focus is particularly put on methods used for a new construction, eventually a number of renovation methods, which keep the construction of the rehabilitated conduit. Besides the description of the individual methods, the first part also contains their technological procedure, and their positives and negatives. The second part further uses the newly gained knowledge to solve a specific case on the Veveří street in Brno city. As the reconstructed section of the sewage network is in the built up area of the city, the primarily reflected possibility for the reconstruction in the work is trenchless technology.
Our estranged spaces
Jelínková, Anna ; Štojdl, Václav (referee) ; Kristek, Jan (advisor)
The project is a continuation of the pre-diploma thesis, which was focused on urban voids and "vacant" spaces in the city centre of Chrudim. To understand the urban voids it utilizes Ignasi de Sol-Morales' Terrain vague concept, which questions the emptiness of such spaces. From the perspective of economic yield, the empty spaces may lie outside the systemic circuits of the city, but at the same time they are certainly not without any content. Examples include urban wilderness in the form of encroachments and R-ecosystems that take hold there, or various non-systemic activities for which there is no space left elsewhere. In their ambivalence between emptiness and content, such places embody the possibility of a systemic alternative that has not yet been defined. The diploma thesis then explores the idea of whether the principles of vagueness can be applied to the search for alternative forms of living and coliving.
Becoming Bodies: An Ethnographic study of Ayurvedic Practice
Wolfová, Alžběta ; Bittnerová, Dana (advisor) ; Holmerová, Iva (referee) ; Horák, Miroslav (referee)
This thesis introduces a critical analysis of a self-proclaimed alternative to modernity. Based on a case of selected, so-called non-conventional medicine within the context of the Czech Republic between 2013 and 2017, I explore how a specific bodily practice like Ayurveda works in this environment. Since it is sought and employed in the everyday lives of an increasing number of people, even in such modestly sized post-socialist country, it resembles similar tendencies generally described in the globalized world (especially from the middle class upwards) in recent decades. Drawing upon (auto)ethnographic research, which originated at a school for future Ayurvedic practitioners and continued into informal meetings- sometimes at the homes of practitioners, I introduce Ayurveda as a specific way of body becoming. Starting with how the body and wellbeing is discursively established within the space of schools, I nevertheless focus mostly on individual practice. I look at how Ayurvedic epistemology is employed and how it enables recognition of one's own body, and subjectivity as interconnected with the surrounding environment. I follow how, as a result of this process, this recognition conditions a certain self- empowerment, especially regarding the establishment or maintenance of one's own wellbeing. I...

Jiroušková, Markéta ; Čechura, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Pech, Milan (referee)
This thesis discusses the artist Jan Steklik and the Crusader school of pure humour without the joke. These include Karel Nepras, Zbynek Sion, Eugen Brikcius or Helena Wilson. All of their most important projects are presented. The second part of the work is devoted to Steklik himself. First, his biography is presented, which summarizes his life from his childhood, his studies, to his last exhibitions. Then his role in the Crusader school is discussed in detail. Finally the last part of the thesis is dedicated to his art. His beginnings, drawings, land- art projects and exhibitions are as well. The aim of this work is to introduce the personality of Jan Steklik not only as an artist, but also as a person who brought humour into the grey socialist society.

Bronchial asthma is a disease that is characterized by strenuous respiratory dyspnea along with bronchial hyperreactivity. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to map the approach of patients to the treatment of bronchial asthma. Second aim of this bachelor thesis is to find out different approaches of treatment of patients with bronchial asthma. The theoretical part of this bachelor thesis describes bronchial asthma itself and the possibilities of its treatment. The most common medications for bronchial asthma are bronchodilators and antiasthmatic medicaments. Furthermore, the theoretical part describes alternative medicine that is connected to bronchial asthma and risk factors that contribute to the development of the disease. The aims of the work were achieved through a qualitative research survey, the aim of this work was to map the approach of patients to the treatment of Asthma Bronchiale and to determine the use of different methods (approaches) of treatment of Asthma Bronchiale. The tented research questions were answered on the basis of a research survey. The qualitative survey took the form of a semi-structured interview. A semi-structured interview was conducted with patients in the pulmonary outpatient clinic, and with the medical chief. The semi-structured interview mapped how often patients use prescribed medication for bronchial asthma and overall patients approaches to treating bronchial asthma. The results of the research survey point out that half of the interviewed patients use alternative medicine along with prescribed medication. Women as a Contemporary Lyrics Authors
Čížková, Karla ; Hník, Ondřej (advisor) ; Hausenblas, Ondřej (referee)
The main aim of this thesis is to provide the reader with the overview of the work of female authors of lyrics and show the topics they are mainly interested in. The partial aim is to find out if some specific female topics and specific female expression and language exist. The core of the work is commented antology of texts. There are included texts of authors who are authors of music and interprets concurrently, who have been working in ten last years and released at least one CD. I come to the conclusion that women are writing mostly about partner relationships, love as a special kind of emotion, family and maternity and also their own position in world, faith and sexuality. Typical of female authors is that they view at the things as if men could not understand the same topics. Specific is also language of female authors and motives they use as the means of expression: they are particulary delicate and tender images and metaphores, intuitive and playful puns. In some texts women try to oppose the stereotype of women putting the text into typicaly mens ambience and using "mens" dictionary.
SLOVAKIAN PROBE. Negotiation of local identity of alternative bands in Moravian Slovácko.
Svobodová, Veronika ; Jurková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Seidlová, Veronika (referee)
The goal of this musical anthropology qualitative research, mainly based on the field work, is to describe, analyze and interpret the process of construction of local identity of an alternative bands in Moravian Slovácko. The subject of this research are mainly two music bands from Slovácko - PSCrew and 12:PIET. PSCrew band represents hip-hop style and 12:PIET ranks among punk style bands. The musical production of these bands is defined (using an emic term) as an alternative folklore. With a use of theoretical concepts of stereotype and partially also retro and revival, I tried to demonstrate how these alternative musicians with an emphasis to their authenticity by the means of their musical spheres (so called soundscapes) pursue their notion of what is considered to be related to Slovácko and how the negotiation of their local identity is involved. For that the locally defined stereotypes are often used. These are typically recontextualized by its adaptation into the form that reflects the postmodern period.
